Sonali Gardens group visits the mural

The Sonali Garden group visiting the mural

It was lovely to see our friends at Sonali Gardens again when they visited the mural recently. This group – comprising a mix of coffee morning and ESOL group members – came together with youngsters from St Mary & St Michael RC School earlier this year to contribute ideas to the mural design. Thanks to Amber Newlands at InCommon and Julie Begum at Sonali Gardens for making this possible, and for bringing the group along to see the end result.

Several of the storylines contributed by this group are featured in the final artwork: George walking his dog in the park, Sally’s memories of hop-picking on the annual family holiday at Marden, the Wimpy at Watney Market (popular with younger and older alike), and a market trolley that inspired reminiscences of local street markets.
